                   Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway is ranked "America's most scenic drive" by leading travel writers. Encompassing a world of mountain forests, wildlife and wildflowers above a patchwork of villages, fields and farms. Take in the year round beauty this scenic drive has to offer - the first explosion of colorful wildflowers in the spring, the refreshing coolness of summer, the fall extravaganza in red and gold and the stark beauty of snow-covered peaks in winter. Each season provides visitors with a completely different view of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Stand at the top of a 500 million year old rock on the edge of a tall mountain with the wind in your face and the world spread out beneath you, as you feel in your knees how high you are. You'll stand in awe of the view - 1200 vertical feet down - along Hickory Nut Gorge to Lake Lure and, on a clear day, as far as Kings Mountain, seventy-five miles to the east beyond the Blue Ridge Mountains.

For more information, go to Chimney Rock Park web site.

Looking Glass Falls

Looking Glass Falls is perhaps one of the best-known waterfalls in the surrounding area.  Located near the Pisgah National Forest, it's ok to swim in the falls, but swim at your own risk.  The falls can been seen from the highway, but you'll want to pull over to get a better look.
